I wanted to be swimming instructor for a few different reasons. For starters I always looked up to my swimming instructors as a kid. As I got older I began to respect the work they were doing and wanted to be a part of it. Secondly many of my family members were also very involved in the aquatics community, which added to my interest in becoming an instructor. Finally I took my first step into teaching aquatics and when I was able I took my Water Safety Instructor course through the Red Cross and began my career a swimming instructor. This is when I really found my love for teaching swimming lessons.

I am currently a first year student at UPEI studying kinesiology. I moved here from Vancouver Island, British Columbia in September 2021 to start my studies. Lots of my family is on Prince Edward Island, so I felt a big pull to come out here. So far I have enjoyed my time here finding I have been able to participate in many of the activities I enjoy (such as being a swimming instructor). I have also found a love for the people and places around the island.
